StackWave Affinity 2022 Year in Review

Every year, StackWave delivers a steady stream of improvements to our Affinity antibody discovery solution, and 2022 was no exception.

Every year, StackWave delivers a steady stream of improvements to our Affinity antibody discovery solution, and 2022 was no exception. We wanted to take a moment to review some of those improvements and to reflect on the feedback that motivated them.

Holistic Project and Program (or Customer!) Management

StackWave works with large and small organizations doing both in-house and contract antibody discovery work, and a consistent refrain from teams of all sizes was the challenge of supporting their company's growth. Tools for managing new projects, new programs, and/or new customers as the company adds new capabilities, new teams, and new objectives were frequently patched together from one or more existing programs, leaving much to be desired.

We've substantially improved the tooling for organizations of any size to manage their internal programs and projects or their ongoing collaborations with external partners. User-defined dashboards can highlight throughput for different discovery workflows and for company and team KPIs. Per-project objectives can be set for different antibody formats, allowing project leads to quickly determine whether they've identified a sufficient number of high-quality leads. Our new Gantt chart widget rolls up progress across projects for every program or collaboration to support at-a-glance status checks on deliverables.

Fully-Integrated ELN

Our ELN product has been fully integrated into Affinity to create a more seamless experience. Use the hashtag symbol to quickly search through existing molecules and add references to them from your notes. Those same molecules' records will then point back to any note that references them. In addition to our existing easy-to-use text editor and spreadsheet widget, you can now easily embed point-in-time snapshots of a molecule's properties or assay results in your notes. Our ELN's previous signature workflow support, tagging and attachment tools, and global search bar are all still available as well.

First-class Support for Nanobodies and Other Heavy-chain-only Formats

Affinity has always provided unmatched support for discovering, expressing, and characterizing monoclonal antibodies, but to that list we can now add Nanobodies and other user-defined heavy-chain-only formats. From phage panning through analysis and reporting, heavy-chain-only formats receive the same support as any other antibody format in Affinity.

More Automation Than Ever Before

Affinity automatically analyzes clone sequences to locate variable domains, call germlines, and identify unique clones. To that automated analysis pipeline we've added determination of net charge and identification of potential sequence liabilities. We've also added Carterra's kinetics and binning output formats to the list of instrument output formats that Affinity can ingest. Between our support for high-throughput expression and automation-focused REST API, implementing workflow automation in your discovery operations has never been easier. Once all of your screening and sequence data is in place, you can plot your results and draw a box around the most interesting clones to quickly select them.
